RESULTS OF OPEN MATCHES

Sun 11th nov

Twenty two anglers turned out on this Sunday, the first of the Newton AA’s fortnightly winter open matches.The match was fished on the Upper pound section of the Sankey Canal, on pegs 1-14 and 33 to 49.

The winner of the match was Mark Brown, (Newton) fishing off peg 46, with a catch Ide’s, roach and skimmers on long pole and caster for

8lbs-5ozs-0drms.

Second place went to Bernie Breeze, (St Helens) on peg 38, with Ide’s, perch and roach again on long pole and caster for 6-2-0.

Third place was Mark Unwin, (Newton) peg 48, with roach and skimmers on pole and pinkie 3-2-0.

Section Winners:

Section 1, Pegs 1-14, Dennis Greenalgh, (Wigan) peg5, 

2-7-0, roach and skimmers.

Section 2, Pegs 33-49, Kenny Graham, (Leigh) peg 40,

1-15-0, roach and skimmers.

Another good turnout of 22 anglers fished this match, using pegs 1-22 and 33-42 of the Upper Pound section of the Sankey Canal.  There was a large pike that was herding fish up towards the loch hole, just passed peg one, so it wasn't too surprising that pegs 1 and 2 were both in the top 3

First  place went to Ivor Brown, fishing off peg 2, with roach, perch and skimmers on 10m pole and punched bread for 5lbs-10ozs-0drms.

Second place went to Dennis Greenalgh, on peg 42, with ide’s on pole and caster for 5-5-0.

Third. Dave Fairhurst, on peg 1, with mostly small skimmers on 10m pole and pellet for 4-14-0.

 

Section Winners:

Lee Churton, peg 5, 3-0-0, silver fish and perch, pole & squatt/caster.

Bernie Breeze, peg 34, 1 F1 plus roach, 3-5-0, pole & caster.

The Fortnightly Open Match,

Upper Pound, Sankey Canal. Sunday 9th, December.

 

Twenty anglers took part in this contest on pegs 33 to 61 of the Upper pound.

 The winner with over a hundred small roach to punched bread and caster was national team skipper Mark Brown(Newton) fishing of peg 61,on pole at 10 meters he had 5lbs-1ozs-0drms.

In second place was Brian Aspinall (Golborne) on peg 36, with a small f1carpand silver fish on long pole and caster for 4-2-10.

Third place went to John Graham, (Leigh) on peg 37, with perch, roach and Ide’s on long pole and caster for 2-14-4.

 

Section Winners:

33-46, Eddie Cook,( Warrington) peg 45, with Ide’s and roach for 1-13-8.

47-61, Neil Buist, (Lymm) peg 51, small roach, on punch for

2-9-8.
